Another spectacular ASP World Championship Tour event has come to an end and the winner was Mick Fanning. Fanning has won the J-Bay event three times, the first one in 2002, the second one in 2006 and now in 2014.
J-Bay Final Heat Summary
The final heat of the Jeffrey’s Bay event was between Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson, both from Australia.
Joel Parkinson grabbed the first wave of the heat but was not able to exit a barrel on the inside. Mick Fanning grabbed the very next wave of the set and did a great job on a double barrel and started an early lead with an amazing score of 9.00, putting all the pressure on Joel Parkinson.
Mick Fanning grabbed another amazing wave and scored and 8.00, putting himself with a very comfortable lead halfway through the final, and putting Joel Parkinson on serious problems, needing two new waves to steal the lead to Mick Fanning.
At the final stage of the final heat, the ocean was gentle with the crowd by delivering set after set, giving the opportunity to Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson to show off all their surfing abilities. At the end of the heat the final scores were Mick Fanning 17.00 and Joel Parkinson 13.60.
